Julia McSheffery C-IAYT, E-RYT500, YACEP
Combining a strong understanding of the body’s structure and systems as well as offering extensive experience and skill in yoga and its therapeutic potential, Julia provides her students the opportunity to easily understand and incorporate yoga practices into their lives in a meaningful way. Originally interested in yoga as a means
of recouping some of the flexibility she lost because of sport rock climbing, Julia quickly realized the benefits of yoga and its healing of injury and illness in her own life. In addition to being educated in exercise science, Julia is certified as a yoga therapist
(C-IAYT) by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, E-RYT500 and certified vinyasa yoga teacher. Each year Julia continues her education in yoga therapy retreat trainings with Doug Keller, doyoga.com. In addition to these certifications, Julia is also thankful for her training with David Swenson, Shiva Rea, Donna Farhi, Amy Weintraub, Elise Browning Miller, Judith Lasater, Todd Norian and Ann Greene, Tom Myers, SS Synth., and Ganga White and Tracy Rich of the White Lotus Foundation. Her experience includes teaching all levels of yoga in a variety of styles throughout the greater Columbus area, leading yoga therapy and yoga teacher trainings at the 200-hr and 500-hr levels and mentoring students enrolled in YTT. She currently teaches classes at facilities throughout the city. She is also a registered continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance.
"Oh man, ANYthing with Julia McSheffery. She was my saving grace and I miss her everyday now that I'm not in Columbus. Her voice is like a quiet music box, she cares about her students' health and well-being, and is just an overall excellent/knowledgeable teacher. You never feel like you're in one of those classes where you're expected to "compete" with those around you. You're there for you and she'll remind you of that constantly... It was one of the only yoga classes where I could actually track my own progress and see myself improve."
"You've been by far one of the best yoga teachers I've ever had. Your instruction was so enlightening, your voice is so soothing, your yoga flows were so creative and your class just made me feel great."
"Just felt like letting you know that I really enjoyed your class last night. It was beautifully timed, paced and a nice sequence. Very rejuvenating for me. I really needed it. I'll be back!"
"Julia is a knowledgeable and engaging yoga teacher whose instruction is practical, unintimidating, and safe. Not only does she provide an infinite amount of information regarding the body's mechanics and energy lines, she also gives her students the opportunity to play with the information they're given so they can personalize it for their own practice and teaching.
Julia is one of the VERY best teachers in Columbus. (FB, 8/29/22)
